Description

Who is This Course For?
Safe Driving is intended for HGV drivers who regularly work in towns, cities or any environment where vulnerable road users are frequently encountered. FORS Silver accreditation requires all company drivers to complete this training. It is particularly suited to:
  • HGV drivers operating in congested or complex traffic conditions
  • Fleet operators seeking to secure or maintain FORS Silver status
  • Businesses aiming to remain compliant with WRRR and CLOCS standards
What Will I Learn?
Delivered over a full day, the course blends classroom theory with hands-on cycling experience to give drivers a rounded understanding of urban road risk.

Theory Module
Run either at one of our training locations or at your premises, this session includes:
  • How modern urban streetscapes are changing
  • Recognising vulnerable road users and sharing space responsibly
  • Defensive driving principles and effective use and maintenance of safety equipment
Practical Module
The practical element takes place on a bicycle, enabling drivers to experience first-hand the perspective of cyclists in traffic. You’re welcome to bring your own equipment if it meets safety requirements, or you can make use of ours. This session focuses on:
  • Driver mindset, spatial awareness and understanding road positioning from a cyclist’s view
  • The role of active travel awareness, physical wellbeing and fitness in safe driving
  • Hazard identification and the challenges vulnerable road users encounter daily

  • A seven-hour course eligible for periodic Driver CPC hours
  • Training that supports FORS Silver, WRRR and CLOCS compliance
