Description

Who is This Course For?
This course is designed for operators and drivers working towards FORS accreditation at Bronze, Silver or Gold level. It supports anyone needing clearer guidance on the FORS framework and ensures drivers gain the practical knowledge required to remain compliant and improve the operational standards of their fleet.

What Will I Learn?
The VR module sets a new benchmark for driver development by placing participants directly into realistic driving environments. Through fully immersive scenarios, including poor weather, dense city traffic and motorway conditions, drivers see the impact of their choices, encouraging safer judgement and a deeper understanding of risk.

 How the module works:
  • Each participant is supplied with a headset and headphones
  • The headset projects a 360-degree driving scenario that fills the user’s field of view
  • Audio narration and environmental sounds play through the headphones
  • Participants move naturally to explore their surroundings within the simulation
VR scenarios include:
  • Sitting in heavy traffic
  • Joining a motorway
  • Reversing into tight spaces
  • Navigating difficult weather conditions
  • Working around barriers
  • Handling demanding driving environments
  • Changing and merging lanes
  • Preventing avoidable incidents
  • Managing distractions, among other scenarios
LoCITY Driving is a classroom-based course focused on minimising the environmental impact of vans and HGVs by reducing emissions through pre-journey planning, vehicle checks, fuel-efficient driving, and the use of alternative fuels.
Topics covered:
  • How driving style influences fuel use and environmental impact
  • The importance of maintenance and daily checks in reducing emissions and cutting costs
  • Practical fuel-efficient driving techniques
  • Using in-vehicle technology to improve fuel performance
  • The value of strategic journey planning
  • An introduction to alternative fuel options for commercial fleets
What Will I Achieve?
  • Exposure to realistic VR simulations that demonstrate the real-world consequences of driving choices
  • A stronger grasp of road safety, enhancing overall competence and professional development
  • Seven hours of CPC training towards the statutory 35-hour requirement
  • Support in meeting FORS obligations across Bronze, Silver and ultimately Gold accreditation
